The provincial government will support the decision of the national inter-agency task force to place the Benguet under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the future as part of the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the dreaded Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 in the locality.

Gov. Melchor Diclas stated that there is a need for the people to adjust to whatever will be the decision of the task force on the future quarantine status of the province so that there will be a significant decrease in the number of cases being recorded daily from the different parts of the province in the coming days.

The governor pointed out that people should also be extra careful because the reported deaths are now getting younger compared to the previous data where those belonging to the old age are the ones dying from the deadly virus, thus, compliance to the implementation of basic health and safety protocols should be the primordial concern of the people to prevent them from contracting the same.

According to him, restricting the movement of people is one of the strategies to help contain the spread of the virus and the ongoing surge in the number of cases in most parts of the country.

Dr. Diclas claimed that the provincial inter-agency task force continues to assess the condition of the province and the number of COVID cases being record so that the concerned municipal task forces will be given the guidance on what appropriate strategies to undertake to contain the spread of the virus and limit the number of individuals dying due to the deadly virus.

While it is true that there is a need to balance health and economy because of the heavy impact of the pandemic to the overall economic situation of various local governments, he emphasized the need to consider the health and safety of the people so that they will be able to be engaged in productive activities that will allow them to hurdle the serious negative impact of the various levels of community quarantine to their living condition.  (Dex See | Joseph Manzano, RPN DZBS Baguio OIC)
