On December 19, 2022 at 7:45 AM, Sergio Osmeña MPS received a phone call from Aireel Omandam Tumapat a resident of Brgy. Liwanag of this municipality and reported that his father Modesto Balas Tumapat, 60 years old, farmer and a resident of, Barangay Liwanag, Sergio Osmeña, committed suicide.
Immediately, PNP Personnel of Sergio Osmeña led by PSSg. Eduardo Misa and PSSg Danny Dizon proceeded to the area to verify the veracity of the said report.
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that the wife of the victim noticed that at around 6:30 AM December 19, 2022 her husband Modesto Tumapat was already hanging in the trusses wood of the roof using a nylon rope wherein it was tied on his neck that causes his untimely death.
According to his wife, the victim was alone sleeping in their house. She also noticed that her husband was lonely and depressed these past few days.
It was further averred by the son of the victim Aireel Omandam Tumapat that his mother and his father (victim) were always on a quarrel and arguing because the victim was always under the influence of liquor. Motive of the incident was depression and family problem.
