A Collaboration activity of Community Environment and Natural Resources Office(CENRO) and Dapitan Tourism through a Writeshop Activity for the Formulation of the of the Ecotourism Development Management Plan (EDMP) of Aliguay Island Protected Landscape & Seascape (AIPLS), Selinog Island Protected Landscape & Seascape (SIPLS) and Jose Rizal Memorial Protected Landscape (JRMPL) all situated in the City of Dapitan held last July 31- August 2, 2024 at Bajamunde Farms Pension House, Dawo , Dapitan City.
The writeshop aimed and provided the participants with a comprehensive understanding of ecotourism concepts, principles, planning, and management processes. Further, participants will have the opportunity to formulate visions, goals, objectives, strategies, programs, and projects for the EDMP, and identify possible ecotourism enterprises or businesses that are feasible in these three (3) protected areas.
The planning – writeshop activities done and discussed by the different speakers were Ecotourism Concepts and Principles , Ecotourism Planning and Management Process, Formulation of Vision, Formulation of Goals and Objectives , SWOT Analysis and PESTLE Presentation and Visitor Management Plan.
Participants from various sectors participated and presented their workshop outputs after each major topics of the writeshop activities. The speakers who were engaging during the Planning – Writeshop were Antonio Romulo C. Tomboc, Tourism Operations Officer II, Mr. Mamerto A. Insag PASu ,JRMPL, Mr . David J. Manjaan PASu , AIPLS , Mrs Irish Antabo – Nogot , Mrs Apple A. Agolong – Dapitan Tourism Officer ,and Phileta Tiempo, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Zanorte.
Dr. Adelaide R Borja, Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENR ) stated that the participants with their dedicated involvement as PAMB member has a huge impact for the future conservation strategies and sustainable development initiatives of our remarkable protected areas.She encouraged everyone to be prepared with thoughtful recommendations, innovative ideas , and any relevant data or research findings to enrich the discussions , decision making processes and development of the EDMP of AIPLS , SIPLS AND JRMPL.
It is known that Zamboanga del Norte has five (5) declared Protected Areas per provision of Republic Act 7586 also known as NIPAS Act (“National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 1992″) where 3 of these protected areas are in the City of Dapitan as mentioned above. (Angelica T. Obina)
