Davao del Sur: The provincial police chief of Davao del Sur has assured more than enough workforce to ensure a peaceful and orderly roll-out of COVID-19 vaccination program in the province.

Col. Alberto Lupaz, provincial director of the Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office, bared a plan of deploying personnel to provide assistance and security during the whole process of implementing the provincial vaccines plan.

“We will maximize our personnel for that matter,” Lupaz stated during Monday’s One Davao on COVID-19: A Virtual Presser of the Philippine Information Agency Region XI.

He said that while there is a regional security plan mainly on securing the arrival and transport of the vaccines, the provincial office will also be preparing their plan.

“But as of now, we are still waiting for the final security plan coming from the regional headquarters as our basis of implementation here in the province,” he added.

The official said that they are not discounting any security threat that may occur upon the transport of the vaccines up to the vaccination day.

“As law enforcement agency, it is our responsibility to secure it… kasi ang mahal ng mga vaccines na yan at limited lang siya, kailangan namin siyang i-secure… (As law enforcement agency, it is our responsibility to secure it… because the vaccines are expensive and it’s only limited, so we need to secure it),” he added.

In January this year, the provincial government of Davao del Sur has already put in place its COVID-19 vaccination campaign plan starting off with the pre-implementation phase.

The pre-implementation phase commenced with the issuance of Executive Order No. 2, which was signed by Governor Douglas Cagas on January 25, 2021. The EO mandates the creation of the Provincial COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign Technical Working Group and Task Force.

This was followed by the issuance of EO No. 4 on February 1, 2021, which enjoined all the city, municipal local government units, partners and stakeholders, to fully support the conduct of the province-wide implementation of COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

The latest issuance was Executive Order No. 5 or an Order creating the Provincial COVID-19 Vaccination Emergency Operation Center, which was signed on Feb. 8….. Samantha Jabol, OIC Michael Manguhig RPN Dxkt Davao
