Iriga: DOH Bicol, partners ink MOU for the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project

The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol) in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), conducted a ceremonial signing of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) Regional Technical Working Group Memorandum of Understanding on April 19, 2024 in Legazpi City.

The event commenced by introducing the components of PMNP that focuses on the strengthened delivery of nutrition and primary health services discussed by DOH CHD Project Officer Ms. Marjhorie Bustenera.

In his message, DOH Bicol Regional Director Dr. Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz said that the memorandum is not just a formal agreement but a solemn commitment on working together towards common goal of improving the nutrition status in Bicol and to seize the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to the principles of cooperation, collaboration and compassion.

Among PMNP’s initiative is to prioritize the First 1000 Days of a child’s life to prevent malnutrition during the most important development phase of a child.

Meanwhile, Ms. Donnia Maye O. Rodillas-Macinas, Project Development Officer III of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 5, emphasized the community-based nutrition service delivery and multi-sectoral nutrition convergence of the project.

The event was attended by the heads and representatives of the partner government agencies which expressed their full support to the project by signing the PMNP-RTWG Memorandum of Understanding and Pledge of Commitment. (DOH5/KPMD)
