Davao City:  The Davao City government has continued facilitating the return of non-residents to their home countries as sweeper flights for Australia and the United Kingdom (UK) were made available on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

“Today, naay sweeper flights sa Australia and UK. Mao ni siya ang ginabuhat sa mga laing country nga gina-sundo nila ang ilang mga residents or ilahang mga citizens. Today, naa ta’y duha ka flights ana (Today, we have sweeper flights for Australia and UK. This is what other countries are doing to repatriate their citizens. Today we have two flights for that),” Mayor Sara said during an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radion.

Mayor Sara said the city government has been facilitating the repatriation of non-residents in coordination with the embassies of other countries where their citizens have coordinated. Davao City provides transportation for their citizens to the airport and board their flights.

On Wednesday, Mayor Sara said the city government scheduled for Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental transports.

Stranded persons who want to return home to their home cities, towns, provinces, and countries can contact the local government by texting at 0956-244-1691/0951-086-8056 and e-mailing davaocitystrandedpax@gmail.com of their details such as name, birth date, mobile number, address, among others. They should also attach their legal documents or ID for verification.

Mayor Sara assured that as long as their message or e-mail does not bounce it means it has been delivered.

She said that Davao City already communicated with some mayors in Mindanao regarding the return of their residents.

“Duna na pud ta’y mga na contact na mga mayors, mga big cities diri sa Mindanao nga gipangutana nato kung dawaton ba nila ang ilahang mga residents. Some of them already answered in the affirmative (We have also contacted mayors of the big cities in Mindanao requesting to allow entry of their residents),” Mayor Sara said. CIO
