Davao City:  Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte on Tuesday urged Dabawenyos who are experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus disease to voluntarily seek medical assistance immediately.

Mayor Sara said that seeking a voluntary medical check-up will also help the health teams in its contact tracing, a measure adopted by the city government to locate more people who may have contracted the coronavirus from those found with the virus infection

“Kadtong mga dunay gibati nga symptoms maayo usa kung sila na gyud ang mosulti nga magpa test ko. Mas mapadali atong trabaho kung ing-ana (It is better if the people experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus to volunteer for testing. It will be easier for us),” the mayor said.

Most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms such as fever, tiredness, and dry cough while others may experience aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, and diarrhea.

Mayor Sara said people with these symptoms can go to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and have themselves checked and evaluated if they will be subjected to test.

“Pwede ra pud mo-diretso sa SPMC para matest sila. Pero didto interviewhon na sila. Because naay ginatan-aw ang doctor kung paunsa ka i-classify as a case or as a patient. So interviewhon ka didto unsa ang nahitabo, and then moingon ang doctor ‘okay, for testing ni siya (They can also go directly to SPMC so they can be tested. But before that, they will be interviewed because the doctors will determine you as a case or as a patient. So you will be asked for details before the doctor will give the go signal for testing),” she said.

This week, the city government with the Department of Health (DoH) has intensified contact tracing in several barangays with confirmed cases of COVID-19.

So far, the DoH team has conducted random testing in Barangays Leon Garcia, 21-C, 23-C, Daliao in Toril, and the adjacent areas of these barangays. The random testing in these areas yielded 4 cases.

To date, there are 113 positive cases in Davao City, 19 deaths, and 59 recoveries. CIO
