Collaborative efforts to rebuild livelihood of Iriga City Fire Survivors-Capacity-Building

Distribution of Livelihood Kits and Financial Assistance On August 9, 2024, at the CDRRMO Multi-Purpose Covered Court, the Local Economic and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO), led by Mrs. Amor Soneja-Auro, together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region V conducted the “Community Empowerment through Capability Building and Livelihood” program to support the 78 fire victims of Iriga City Public Market.

The program commenced with welcome remarks by Executive Secretary Jor-el Caayao, followed by a seminar on business continuity planning delivered by PD Victor Emmanuel S. Castro of the Masbate Provincial Office. NCBC Senen Emmanuel S. Malaya provided an orientation on the completion of necessary documents, while NCBC-TIDA Eva May C. Tayomora discussed the preliminaries and briefed attendees on the DTI-Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program. After the Seminar on Business Continuity Planning, DTI Camarines Sur Provincial Director Jay Percival S. Ablan delivered the opening message, setting the tone for the event. Also present during the event was former DTI Usec Flordelona L. Amate, representing Senator Bong Go who also extended his support and assistance for the victims and for LGU Iriga.

Mayor Wilfredo Rex C. Oliva, in his message of acceptance, expressed profound gratitude to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Local Economic and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO) for their swift and compassionate response to the needs of the fire victims, Office of Senator Bong Go and the ever-supportive Congressman Migz and the Province of Camarines Sur. He emphasized the vital role that the “Community Empowerment through Capability Building and Livelihood” program would play in helping the affected vendors regain their livelihoods, thereby contributing not only to their economic recovery, but of Iriga City as well. Mayor Rex also took a moment to extend his sincere thanks to Congressman Miguel Luis R. Villafuerte, acknowledging his unwavering support and advocacy for the city. He noted that the Cong. Migz’s dedication has been instrumental in ensuring that the necessary resources and assistance reach those in need.

In his inspirational message, Congressman Migz Villafuerte commended the resilience and determination of the fire victims. He recognized the hardships they had endured but also highlighted the strength and unity of the Iriga community in the face of adversity. Congressman Migz urged the beneficiaries to embrace the opportunities provided by the program, seeing it not just as a means to recover from their losses, but as a platform to build stronger, more resilient businesses for the future. His message reinforced the importance of community collaboration and the transformative power of collective effort in overcoming challenges and turning them into opportunities for growth and empowerment. The event concluded with a closing message from DTI-Region V Regional Director Dindo G. Nabol. The event was also attended by Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat, BM Shai Noble, Kgwd. Melnan Murallo-Asanza, Kgwd. Jeff Tino, Kgwd. Nikki Lagrimas, Kgwd. Dandreb Abonite, and Heads of Offices of the LGU.
