Davao City – The city government of Davao eyes to put up a drive-thru swabbing area at Crocodile Park aside from establishing additional swabbing units in the city’s public parks to decongest the Sta. Ana Health Center swabbing site.

Davao City Acting Health Officer Dr. Ashley Lopez, also COVID-19 focal person, bared this during the weekly COVID-19 Alert program of the Davao City Disaster Radio, after the crowding of people at the downtown health center was monitored by the contact tracing team via the Safe Davao QR (DQR).

Lopez said it was the first time that the DQR was implemented for contact tracing and they did not anticipate a number of contact-traced people will be barging into the swabbing site all at the same time.

“That’s only one day, after which na address dayon nato mga needs og resources na kinahanglan aron malikayan ang ingon ani nga congestion sa Sta. Ana. We provided all their needs og giregulate ang pagtawag sa mga tawo. Naa na silay scheduling. Part of information naapil napud ang schedule kung kanus-a og asa sila magpatest aron dili na ta macongest sa Sta. Ana,” he said.

He also said that they expanded the swabbing centers by installing swab units in some district health centers that are manned by medical technologists who will conduct the swabbing. They also plan to have swabbing sites inside Magsaysay Park and People’s Park.

He added, “Sa Crocodile Park ginadevelop na drive-thru swabbing area. Ato pa nanag ginadevelop run although it is still in the stage of planning pero nakabuhat nami og ocular inspection diha together with

Col. Baloran and Col. Abude to develop a process flow. Ang target population kay mga drivers sa public utility vehicles (We are developing a drive-thru swabbing area at Crocodile Park, which is still in the planning stage. But we have already conducted an ocular inspection together with Col. Baloran and Col. Abude to develop a process. We target the public utility vehicle drivers).”

He was referring to City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) chief Alfredo Baloran and City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) chief Dionisio Abude, both retired police officers.

After the PUV drivers, Lopez said they plan to also include delivery service drivers.

“Dako ni syang tabang kung ato na ning ma-implement tanan para sa atong COVID-19 operations especially sa atong testing aspect sa COVID-19,” Lopez said.

He said that a floor plan and the process flow is in place for the Crocodile Park swabbing site. They are just waiting for the executive order of Mayor Inday Sara Duterte that will mandate all PUV drivers in Davao City to submit themselves for RT-PCR testing.
