Cebu City – Giawhag ni Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama ang mga stallholders, vendors, space occupants sa Freedom Park ug Warwick Barracks sa Carbon Public Market nga mosunod sa Notice to Vacate nga gi issue ni City Administrator Raquel Arce.
Ang direktiba alang sa mga vendors nga mobalhin o mo relocate pinasubay kini sa redevelopment sa Carbon Market nga gikasabutan tali sa city government ug sa Megawide Construction Corporation pinaagi sa usa ka Joint Venture Agreement (JVA).
“(The Notice to Vacate) should be (followed) because if they will not follow, unsay pasabot? There is an authority and what is the authority? The city government, that’s one. Number two, what is the authority? The contract. The contract is not invalid unless declared invalid. By whom? By the court,” mensahi ni Rama.
Gipasabot ni Rama nga magpadayon ang Megawide project gawas lang kung dunay court order nga magmando sa pagpa hunong niini.
“We will never be into rescission. Never. Because mag-rescission gani ta pirmi, mag-invalidation gani ta sa contract, unsay mahitabo? Wala na’y investor manganhi nato,” pahibaw niini.
Ang Carbon Alliance sayo niini mi demand ni Arce nga i withdraw ang Notice to Vacate nga iyang gi issue niadtong Marso 8, 2022 batok sa tanang market stallholders,vendor,space occupants sa Freedowm Park ug Warwick Barracks.
Imbes nga maminaw sa mando, mipahigayon ug usa ka semana nga protesta sugod pagka Lunes.
Matod ni Anne Ariosa, pangu sa Carbonhanong Alyansa nga ang ilang protesta molanat hangtud sa Marso 21.
“If we’re talking about whether it came from me the notice, look into that there’d been agreement between the city government and Megawide and such an agreement, if it is within the schedule then it must be followed. What’s the problem?” matod ni Rama.
Kahihumduman nga giduso ni Rama ang “curative measure’ dihang siya pa ang bise mayor aron pag plansa sa pipila ka punto sa JVA.
Gi-umol ang supplemental memorandum of agreement (MOA) sa JVA tali sa city government ug Megawide.
Ning pagtumaw sa tension gumikan sa redevelopment sa labing dako nga merkado sa syudad, matod ni Rama nga mahitabo gyud kini kung ipatigbabaw ang dili pagsinabtanay.
“Tension will only rise if misunderstanding will be promoted. That misunderstanding, if promoted, you cannot stop tension. It’s just a matter of them deciding but they cannot decide for the greater good… We are a government of laws, not a government of men,” pasabot ni Rama. (Jhon Tadlip)
