Caraga Regional Development Plan: Building a better future for Caraga

Surigao City proudly hosts the Caraga Regional Development Plan Caravan marking a pivotal moment in the region’s journey towards progress.

The Regional Development Plan for 2023-2028 is a strategic blueprint that outlines comprehensive initiatives across key sectors such as agriculture, industry, infrastructure, education, health, environment, and tourism. With a core objective of stimulating economic advancement, enhancing social welfare, and preserving our natural heritage, the plan accentuates sustainable approaches, inclusive policies, and innovative solutions tailored to Caraga’s distinct characteristics and challenges.

During the program, the Chairperson for Caraga Regional Development Council, Province of Dinagat Islands Gov. Nilo P. Demerey Jr., presented the Top Regional Priority Programs and Projects. These projects include a proposed Surigao del Norte – Dinagat Islands Connectivity project, connecting Surigao City, Nonoc Island, Dinagat, and Leyte in a road network project.

City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II pledged his support for the development plan to help advance the lives of Batang Surigaonons.

Surigao City Vice Mayor Alfonso Casurra, PDI Vice Governor Benglen Ecleo, SDN Provincial Administrator Rise Faith Recabo, and other esteemed members of the Caraga Regional Development Council also attended the caravan’s opening program.

In addition to the unveiling of the Caraga Regional Development Plan 2023-2028, the event also featured a Caraga Innovation Day, serving as a platform to showcase pioneering products and solutions originating within the region. (Mark James Lisondra)
