Baguio: 7 Dead, 1 Missing In Benguet, Baguio Due To Maring


Baguio City – Rescuers were able to retrieve the bodies of two minors who were trapped inside their home that was buried by a landslide late Monday evening at Barangay Dominican-Mirador.

Authorities identified the fatalities as Judy Rose Tulipas, 12, and Thalia Kasidee Ocampo, 4. Yesterday the body of their grandfather was recovered from underneath the debris.

In Benguet, A 20-year old man died while his 25-year old brother remains missing when the rice field they were passing through eroded during the heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Maring at Todag, Tacadang, Kibungan, Tuesday afternoon.

The fatality was identified as June Perez Balangen while his missing older brother was named as Romy Balangen.

Earlier, the three siblings of Teligo family perished when a landslide buried their house at Barangay Ambiong in La Trinidad.

Meanwhile, Benguet Electric Cooperative said it has restored 85 percent electricity in its franchise areas after the onslaught of Typhoon Maring.

Department of Public Works in the region reported that out of the 76 road sections closed due to landslides within 25 road lines in CAR, 52 sections are already passable.
