Bacolod City – Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairman of the committee on transportation, announced that the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) has endorsed a new transportation route connecting Sum-ag/Bacolod-Negros Economic Highway directly to the Silay-Airport Terminal.

In a media interview recently, Ramos said that of the four new loops requested by the Asenso Bacolod Transport Cooperative, only the Sum-ag to Airport route received immediate endorsement from the council.

He explained that this specific route was approved first because it avoids affecting any existing routes or operators and has no controversy.

The three other proposed loops will be subject to further committee hearings.

Ramos revealed plans to designate the new Sum-ag-Airport connection as a “green route,” which means it will be serviced exclusively by electric jeepneys (e-jeeps).

The SP’s favorable endorsement, according to Ramos, will be included in the cooperative’s requirements for submission to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

He also mentioned his plan to coordinate with the Silay Local Government Unit to promote the benefits of opening the new loop.

The other three routes still under review are: Bacolod City Government Center to South Capitol Road, Cabug to Libertad Loop, and Arao/Abada Iskay to Gatuslao Loop. (Theresa Mae Dulman via tvds)
