Bacolod City – A resolution requesting the City Legal Enforcement Unit and the Bacolod Anti-Smoking Task Force to intensify the implementation of City Ordinance No. 962 prohibiting the use of e-cigarettes in certain places, and C.O. No. 641 regulating smoking in public places including public conveyances, advertisements, promotions, and sponsorships of tobacco products, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod recently.

The resolution authored by Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang said Executive Order No. 34, series of 2022 reconvened the Bacolod Anti-Smoking Task Force (BASTF) after it was halted during the pandemic.

It is well established scientifically that second-hand exposure to inhaled tobacco products causes serious adverse health complications, death, and disability, it said.

Intensified implementation of designated smoking and vaping areas in public places will significantly reduce the exposure and health risk of the general public to inhaled tobacco products, the resolution added. (Chrysee Semillano via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
