Bacolod City – Mayor Bing Leonardia announced last night the approval of his request from the NIATF not to impose the MGCQ status on the city as this will further hurt the ailing economy of the city. He said it is too restrictive, and can be considered as too restrictive to the economy. Instead the NIATF accepted his plea, but with “heightened restrictions”, which means indoor activities should still be limited to a certain number of persons. According to the mayor, he will abide by said restrictions and provisions provided by the NIATF.

Meanwhile the mayor, issued executive order no. 37, July 9, 2021, creating the Bacolod Safety Seal Committee for the safety seal certification program. This aims to certify business establishments as COVID-19 safe zones, for the public to identify. The Bacolod PNP, along with other committees were tasked to implement, and imposed such restrictions.
