Bacolod City – P/Col. Rainerio De Chavez, the newly designated officer in charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, recently vowed to implement aggressive and honest law enforcement that shall produce quality accomplishments, and not just “accomplishments for show.”

We will fight against all forms of criminality, insurgency, and terrorism, stressed De Chavez in his speech during the NOCPPO turnover of command rites held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City, presided by Western Visayas police director PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky.

He also issued a stern warning against those police officers who may be involved in illegal activities.

“We will also make sure that every misdeed, involvement in illegal drugs, corruption, and any illegal activities shall be dealt with accordingly and sternly,” De Chavez said, stressing also that the integrity enhancement of all PNP personnel, both uniformed and non-uniformed, shall be put in place.

The NOCPPO officer-in-charge further said that he will implement the preventive and punitive approaches of the Internal Disciplinary Mechanism. In so doing, he added, “we will utilize our intelligence operatives for monitoring, validation, and/or negation, in coordination with our investigative units.”

While they may be humble in serving the people, De Chavez said they will be hard in enforcing the law and in extending the long arm of law to criminals, wanted persons, terrorists, and to all those who were found to have violated the law, ordinances, and legal orders.

He also ordered an all-out war against wanted persons, including illegal drug personalities and groups, and criminal gangs.

Meanwhile, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson recently disclosed that de Chavez was highly recommended to lead NOCPPO by his advisers on police matters.

De Chavez replaced P/Col. Leo Pamittan, who was conferred the Medalya ng Kasanayan by PBrig. Gen. Wanky, in recognition of his laudable performance as NOCPPO chief for more than two years.

Lacson said he expects that De Chavez will be as efficient as those before him.

Prior to his position, De Chavez, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 2000, served as officer in charge of the Rizal Police Provincial Office, and later as provincial police director of Batangas. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
