Bacolod City – Negros Occidental topped the three-day national vaccination drive in Western Visayas and even surpassed the target of 150,000 persons set by the Department of Health to be inoculated from November 29 to December 1.
The DOH Regional Vaccination Operations Center in Western Visayas reported that Negros Occidental vaccinated 213,291 individuals, exceeding the target of 150,000 set by DOH.
On Day 1, a total of 68, 911 were vaccinated, with 71,012 the next day, and 73,368 on December 1, garnering a 142.19 percent accomplishment, the report added.
Iloilo province ranked second with 134, 500 individuals vaccinated, followed by Bacolod City with 70, 752, Capiz – 51,699, Antique – 51, 150, Aklan – 21,459, Iloilo City – 21, 208 and Guimaras – 20,282.
Of the three-day target set of 791,034 persons targeted for vaccination in Western Visayas, the DOH report said that 592,341 were inoculated, which is equivalent to 74.88 percent accomplishment.
Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz declared that the three-day vaccination ended as “very successful.”
We exceeded in our target by 63,291, Diaz said, stressing also that Negros Occidental has contributed a lot in the vaccination program of the national government.
He also thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for the vaccines that made available to all Negrenses.
Even before the three-day national vaccination, including two weeks before, we continued to improve our vaccination drive, Diaz said.
“We will try to convince people to get vaccinated because it is for their own protection and their families,” he added.
COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental further dipped to 423, as of December 1, according to a report of the Provincial Incident Management Team.
