Bacolod: NegOcc jabs HCWs with bivalent COVID vaccines

Bacolod City – Health care workers (HCWs) assigned in different hospitals managed by the provincial government of Negros Occidental are now receiving Pfizer Bivalent booster shots against new COVID-19 variants.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said that the Provincial Health Office started administering the Bivalent vaccine to 553 HCWs qualified to receive it.

Negros Occidental received 390 vials of the Bivalent vaccine, with vial containing six doses.

Diaz said a total of 2,340 doses of Bivalent vaccine has been earmarked for HCWs in the different government hospitals being supervised by the provincial government.

The vaccine expires January 31, 2024.

Diaz also announced that PHO is still catering to those who are willing to take booster shots, as they have still available stocks.

Health Secretary Ted Herbosa earlier said that the government would continue securing supplies of bivalent vaccines, in coordination with COVAX and other countries, to protect the Filipino people from the virus and prevent is possible resurgence and transmission.

If the vaccines are available in the market, Diaz said that Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson is willing to purchase it for Negrenses who are willing to be vaccinated. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
