This was the assurance given by Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC deputy for medical data analysis and management, who is running for councilor of Bacolod City under Grupo Progreso, together with former city administrator and EOC executive director Em Ang.

Sorongon said that when the campaign period starts, Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan and Dr. Rosalie Deocampo will take over, while Secretary to the Mayor Eduard Joseph Cuansing now sits as City Administrator. Acting City Health Officer Dr. Edwin Miraflores is also hands-on with regard to the city vaccination program and has been involved in the EOC since the start of the pandemic.

“l believe that when the campaign period starts, our EOC, COVID-19 response and vaccination program are all in good hands because these doctors will continue the system and processes that are already in place which have been established by the local government of Bacolod. So, whoever will be in charge of the EOC-TF will be able to manage it since all the clusters and everyone incharge will already know what to do,” he said.

Hopefully, that with the cooperation of everyone, Bacolod will be able to sustain its alert level status at Alert Level 1 and that the number of COVID-19 cases will continue to decline and the city will be able to maintain zero number of cases, so the Department of Health (DOH) and World Health Organization (WHO) might declare the pandemic as endemic by September, Sorongon said.

Meanwhile, Sorongon said that while he has his own preferred presidential candidate, but since he is part of Grupo Progreso and is under the Nacionalista Party, he will wait for whoever their party will endorse for presidential candidate.

“But on a personal note, if you ask me whom l want to support, l also have a choice for my presidential candidate,” he said during a press conference.

When pressed by the media to reveal his personal choice, Sorongon said “You will see it on my wall. We will paint the street pink.” (Chrysee Semillano via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
