Bacolod City – The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting Secretary Vince Dizon of the Department of Transportation to immediately open a Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) satellite office within the jurisdiction of Bacolod City.

Authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr., the resolution said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board develops and administers policies, laws, and regulation related to public land transportation.

The LTFRB grants franchises (certificate of public convenience – CPC) to public utility vehicle (PUV) operators, allowing them to operate on specific routes and ensuring they meet safety and services standards, it said.

Drivers and operators of public utility vehicles within the jurisdiction of Bacolod City are inconvenienced in applying for CPC because there is no branch office of LTFRB (in Bacolod City), the resolution added. (Chrysee Semillano via tvds)
