283 Suspects Nabbed In One-Day Crackdown Versus Illegal Drugs, Wanted Persons, New People’s Army In Caraga Region

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City – Police Regional Office (PRO)13 under the command of the Regional Director BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT JR. scored anew following the apprehension of 283 suspects in the regionwide law enforcement operation against illegal drugs, wanted persons, and the New People’s Army (NPA) last Sunday, June 20.

In the fight against illegal drugs, 38 personalities fell to the long arm of the law after they yielded 130.34grams of shabu and 21.18grams of marijuana having a total Dangerous Drug Board value of Php1, 539,176.90.

Police also collared 49 suspects for violation of RA No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition. The implementation of search warrants and other police operations led to the confiscation of 88 loose firearms.

On the same day, 172 comprised of 92 most wanted persons and 80 other individuals sought by the law were captured in separate manhunt operations.

In support of the government’s efforts in ending local communist armed conflict, PRO13 also captured 17 most wanted NPA members and seven others aside from the surrender of 10 NPA guerrillas bringing 11 firearms of different calibers.

The operations were carried out with the support of the intelligence community, members of the courts pillar of the criminal justice system, and other stakeholders.




“If somebody violates the law, we will make sure that appropriate actions are instituted and implemented against him/her without fear or favor. However, we put premium on respect of human rights at the heart of these police operations,” RD CARAMAT JR. emphasized.

He also lauded the efforts of the unit commanders on the ground adding that the accomplishments are another feather in the cap that every PRO13 personnel shall be proud of. (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
