Leisure and non-essential visits will soon be allowed as Zamboanga City reopens for tourism next month.

Beginning February, the city will be accepting outside guests, tourists, and visitors to Zamboanga City, subject to compliance to entry requirements and observance of minimum health and safety protocols.

As announced by City Tourism Officer Sarita Sebastian, entry requirements for non-essential travels are: Authority to Enter (ATE), negative RT PCR undertaken at a DOH-accredited facility not more than three days prior departure, travel authority with medical certificate and government-issued ID, round-trip ticket, travel itinerary in Zamboanga City, and confirmed hotel booking from list of DOT-accredited non-facility hotels.

Another RT PCR test will be required for guests staying in the city for more than 5 days. “If more than 5 days of stay aqui na diaton ciudad, necesita kita man require kanila otro RT PCR test on pax account,” Sebastian said.

The city has been closed to tourists and non-essential travels since March last year, following the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) amid the public health risks of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Majority of the city’s tourism destinations have also remained closed to the public.
