ZamPen Sends 11 Health Workers To NCR

    Zamboanga City – Eleven (11) medical frontliners from Zamboanga Peninsula responded to the government’s call for volunteers to augment the need for more healthcare workers in the National Capital Region where hospitals are overwhelmed due to spike in COVID-19 cases.

    DOH Regional Director Dr. Joshua Brillantes and Mayor Beng Climaco led the send-off ceremonies at the Zamboanga International Airport Sunday morning as they thanked the volunteers for their heroism.

    “You are all heroes, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We, in Region 9 are sending you off for a very special mission to help the overwhelmed hospitals in Metro Manila,” Mayor Climaco said in her message.

    Of the 11 frontliners deployed to Manila, 6 are nurses, 3 midwives and 2 medical technologists. They are from different municipalities in Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay and 1 from Zamboanga City. They are under DOH’s Human Resource for Health under emergency hiring for deployment to DOH-retained hospital in NCR and surrounding provinces.
