Zamboanga: Remembering Rizal on his 162nd birthday

Mayor John Dalipe rallied Zamoangueño youth to embrace Dr. Jose Rizal’s legacy as a guidepost in nation building, as he spearheaded the ceremony marking the national hero’s 162nd birth anniversary at the Rizal Monument fronting City Hall Monday morning.

“May we, the people of Zamboanga City, especially the youth, carry the torch of Rizal’s legacy with pride and determination,” the mayor said stressing “let us be catalysts for positive change, empower our communities, to achieve a lasting impact.”

“Together let us honor Dr. Jose Rizal’s memory by dedicating ourselves to the noble task of nation building, for a brighter and more prosperous future awaits us all,” he added.

The activity, organized jointly by the City Government through the City Tourism Office and the Order of the Knights of Rizal-ZC Chapter and Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines-R9 Zamboanga City, was also graced by Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja, District I Congressman Khymer Olaso and Free and Accepted Masons officials led by Atty. Quirino Esguerra represented by Aldrin Lee and KOR-Western Mindanao area commander Domingo Falcasantos.

The commemoration ceremony kicked off with the flag raising ceremony followed by the wreath laying rite.
