Zamboanga: Prices Of Flowers To Increase Despite Pandemic

The prices of flowers are expected to increase by 90 percent in preparation for the All Saints Day and All Souls Day on November 1 and 2 respectively.

Commemoration will be done earlier as cemeteries will be closed from October 29 to November 2 due to the pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019.

Roberto Apelo, president Zamboanga Latin Flowers Retailer’s Association said in an interview that the reason for the price increase is their supply comes in daily which means price moves everyday and the cost of freight increased.

Prices of flower arrangement ranges from ₱ 100 to ₱ 150 and other arrangements depending on the flowers used.

Available flowers are chrysanthemum, mums, roses, anthurium, and other flowers.

He said two years now in pandemic their earnings were also affected as few are buying flowers and doing their cemetery visitations.
