Zamboanga: NAPC-RBSCC strengthens Poverty Reduction efforts

The National Anti-Poverty Commission Regional Basic Sectors Coordinating Council (RBSCC) convenes for its second quarter Local Inter-Agency meeting to discuss critical issues besetting various communities in the region, to include the approval of the Regional Cross-Sectoral Agenda 2024-2026.

The 3-day event, held from May 27-29 at the City Inn Hotel in La Purisima Street, manifests commitment to ongoing efforts to implement effective and sustainable solutions for poverty reduction in Zamboanga City and beyond.

Mayor John Dalipe, represented by City Social Welfare and Development Officer Ma. Socorro Rojas, emphasized the importance of collaboration and dedication in the fight against poverty, as he expressed gratitude to all the participating local government units, agencies, and institutions.

“It is through your unwavering support and active participation that we can hope to achieve substantial progress in our fight against poverty,” the mayor said in his message read by Rojas. “Let us reaffirm our commitment to this noble cause. Let us leverage our collective expertise, resources, and determination to create impactful and lasting change.”

The chief executive likewise highlighted the pivotal role of the National Anti-Poverty Commission in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region, stressing the need for collective effort to make a significant impacts.

The collaborative discussions and strategic planning underscored a unified approach towards poverty alleviation.

Present during the RBSCC quarter meeting were NAPC Regional Coordinator Julieta Tigo, NAPC Deputy Director General Undersecretary Teng Catong represented by Executive Assistant Atty. Mudznar Muyong, RBSCC team, representatives from various agencies including Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and several others.
