Philippine flags are hoisted at Rizal Park as Zamboanga City joins the nation in the observance of National Flag Day today, May 28, based on RA 8491, the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines and HB 5224.
The Knights of Columbus in partnership with the City Government spearheaded Sunday morning the flag raising ceremony at the Rizal park fronting City Hall.
Sunday’s event kicks off the 15-day flag day period from May 28 leading to Freedom day or Araw ng Kalayaan on June 12 with Imus, Cavite as the main event site as it was “where the new Philippine flag was first raised and waved in victory by the revolutionaries, according to Phil. history.”
