Zamboanga: JTFZ sends off forces deputized for May polls

Over 3,000 military, police and Coast Guard forces were sent off to perform election duties for the May 9 polls in different parts of the city during ceremonies held Thursday, February 24 at the Paseo del Mar.

Spearheaded by the Joint Task Force Zamboanga, Zamboanga City Police Office and the Coast Guard Zamboanga station, the send off activity coincided with the launching of the SAFE NLE 2022 or “KASIMBAYANAN.”

The deputization of AFP, PNP and PCG forces by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is pursuant to Resolution 10755.

The deputized forces were formally accepted for deployment by City Election Registrar Atty. Stephen Roy Canete to ensure the safety and protection of Zamboanga City under the objective of a Secure, Accurate, Fair and Free Election on May 9, 2022.

The activity kicked off with an Interfaith prayer led by Fr. Leh “Lei” Taib of the Roman Catholic ICAS, Inc, Ustadz Abdulbasit Amilhasan of the Salaam Volunteers Force Multipliers-ZCPO and Pastor Nehemia Banzon of the Faith-based ZCPO.

Messages to inspire the troops were also given by Zamboanga Metropolitan Cathedral Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Filmore Calibo, Ustadz Edris Lim of the Majlisud Dual Islamic Propagators of Zamboanga City, Pastor Oliver Toribio, president of the Faith-based ZCPO, Cariben Llanes of the PPCRV Zamboanga City and Juanito Calingacion, DICT.
