Zamboanga: ITC to ask LIATF and LGU for grace period on vaccination on-site workers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional office 9 thru the Industrial Tripartite Council (ITC) will ask for a grace period when it comes vaccination on-site workers.

Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, DOLE 9 Regional Director, said “We will be asking the LIATF and LGU to give us 45 days grace period then after that go.”

According to IATF-EID Resolution 148-B issued on November 11, on-site workers are required to be fully vaccinated.

Under the resolution, on-site workers who remain to be unvaccinated should not be terminated but must take reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or RT-PCR tests regularly at their own expense.

Meanwhile, IATF Resolution 149 states that all partially vaccinated employees in the public and private sector tasked to do onsite work need not undergo regular RT-PCR test at their own expense, as long as their second dose is not yet due pursuant to the interval prescribed for the brand of vaccine received as first dose.

He said, there were instance that workers are being stopped as they don’t have proof of vaccination especially in this city especially on Sunday.

Meanwhile, on the said resolution, Buenafe said, they will have to wait for the official labor advisory before implementation.

The region has 2.3 million workers in the formal sector and some 65 percent are vaccinated.
