Zamboanga: Integrity, good performance

The Department of Interior and Local Government on Monday stressed that integrity and good performance are pillars of meaningful local autonomy and development, as it commenced Regional Assessment for SGLG for CY 2020 in Zamboanga City.

“With the advent of RA 11292 or the SGLG law, the national government puts primacy to the integrity and good performance as pillars of meaningful local autonomy and development,” Jose Ruel Trobanos, Chief of of Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) and Regional Assessment Team (RAT) Leader emphasized in his opening message during the evaluation session with the Zamboanga City Government team led by Mayor Beng Climaco.

SGLG stands for the Seal of Good Local Governance which is an “award, incentive, honor and recognition-based program for all LGUs, and is a continuing commitment for LGUs to continually progress and improve their performance.”

Zamboanga City under the leadership of Mayor Climaco was conferred the SGLG by the DILG for 2 consecutive years based on indicators on economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure and resiliency.

Trobanos and team will be in the city for evaluation and assessment of the City Government’s performance in 2020.
