At around 12:40 P.M. of June 3, 2022 a concerned citizen called Kumalarang Municipal Police Station and reported the death of the 2 minors identified as John Kin Gregorio (8 year old) and John Leo Miro (6 year old). Furthermore, there were two other victims named as; Rea Fe Pocolan (13 year old) and John Michael Miro (8 year old) who’ve severely wounded in the blast and were immediately rushed to Pagadian City Medical Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
According to the grandmother of the victims, Mrs. Fe Calunsag Poculan, which is said to be the owner of the house where the four children were playing, she saw her grandchildren tampering a rusty pipe which in her surprise suddenly exploded. The incident transpired at Purok Malipayon, Diplo, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur.
The police are still currently investigating to ascertain the kind of explosive which caused the unfortunate event. The Chief of Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office, PCOL DIOMARIE S ALBARICO, the Acting Provincial Director is encouraging the public to contact the nearest police station, once a suspected vintage bomb or explosive is seen in their vicinity. PCOL ALBARICO reminds everyone to never allow anybody to get close to any kind of suspicious objects or suspected explosives and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the people within the community.
