Zamboanga: DOT forges partnership with DOT for tourism promotion projects

    Mayor John Dalipe and Tourism Regional Director Dara May Cataluña meet Wednesday morning to firm up partnerships for the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of the Department of Tourism and the Annual Tourism Development Workshop set in Zamboanga City in May 2023.

    Zamboanga will be the first city in Mindanao that will cater to tourism activities featuring the heritage sites and attractions during the ORO TOUR on May 11, in line with the 50th DOT anniversary.

    Other activities during the celebration include the Tourism Stakeholders Recognition; Zampen Travel and Trade Fair that will feature all LGUs in Zamboanga Peninsula, Regional Tourism Stakeholders Convergence that will gather all local chief executives, congress persons and tourism officers in Region 9 and the proposed Regional Stakeholders Gala and Recognition Night, a fellowship and recognition of tourism stakeholders.

    Mayor Dalipe expressed approval to the proposals as he tasked the City Tourism Office to closely collaborate with the DOT director to ensure the realization of the proposed activities.

    Meanwhile, another activity set to be undertaken by the DOT-9 in partnership with the City Government is the Annual Tourism Development Workshop and Benchmarking Tour that will bring in DOT planning officers from all the regional offices and central office for a tourism planning workshop and benchmarking activity.

    Panaygon sa ZAMPEN, a Paskong Pinoy caravan that will showcase the Christmas festivities celebrated in the region, is also set for implementation by the DOT-9 with Zamboanga City as the kick-off point.
