Crowd flocks the tourist destinations in General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte

Local officials of General Luna led by Mayor Sol Matugas worked even on Holy Days to respond to tourists flocking the surfing capital of the Philippines last Good Friday, April 7, 2023.

The mayor asked assistance from boat operators in Socorro and nearby municipalities due to the overbooking of resorts where tourists engaged in island hopping. Members of the Philippine National Police were on alert including the activation of health stations with ambulances ready at Cloud 9. The Municipal Tourism Staff led by Donna Tiu Estrella were also holding their office at Cloud 9 responding to complaints of tourists victimized by minor theft incidents. These were immediately solved through the installation of CCTV Camera System.

Siargao is now known as the number 1 island destination in the Philippines where many are wanting to experience nature’s beauty at its best, Mayor Sol Matugas said in her message to RPN DXKS today. (RPN DXKS Surigao, photos courtesy by Mayor Sol Forcadilla Matugas)
