Mayor John Dalipe has asked jail authorities to expedite completion of the new Zamboanga City Jail building in Tulungatung citing the urgent need to reduce overcrowding in existing prison facilities.
Dalipe said this as he welcomed Jail Superintendent Xavier Solda and Jail Senior Inspector Sitti Benzon Abdulahab, male and female dormitory wardens and other key officers of the Zamboanga City Jail during the latter’s courtesy visit in City Hall recently.
The mayor was apprised on the status of the project which started over a year ago.
The jail officials and the mayor likewise discussed key concerns with the aim of sustaining efforts to ensure health, livelihood and decongestion of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the City Jail located in barangay Zone 3.
