The City Government led by Mayor John Dalipe Monday morning formally recognized 4 chess players who bagged medals in the recently concluded 6th Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand.
John Cyrus S. Borce (14 years old), Angela Joelle L. San Luis (17 years old), Robick Vohn K. Villa (17 years old) and Cyreine Jean S. Borce (10 years old) were presented with Certificates of Recognition for their splendid performance contributing 7 Gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals to the Philippine medal tally.
Mayor Dalipe highly praised the chess prodigies, as he cited the importance of investing in sports and youth development.
The players will also receive cash incentives based on the provisions of a City Ordinance.

Also recognized was Coach Joey Florendo for exerting his best efforts that resulted to the victorious representation of the 4 Zamboangueno chess wizards during the Thailand event held November 3-15, 2022.
City Sports Director Dr. Cecil Atilano presented the young chess masters during the City Government flag raising ceremony at the City Hall grounds Monday morning.
