The city government together with the Department of Health IX recognized the winners of its social media search for fully-immunized children Tuesday, May 16, at City Hall.
Dubbed the Batang Bakunado Protektado Social Media Gimik Search for Fully Immunized Chikiting, the competition forms part of the ongoing nationwide supplemental immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, and polio or the MR-OPV SIA.
The search also served as an advocacy for vaccination to encourage parents and guardians to have their children fully-immunized against diseases.
The winners with the most liked entries are: Adbul Zaheer Jukupan (Mother – Annadar Jukapan), Zxylafhaye Garcines (Mother – Ivy Garcines), Zoe Mia Saavedra (Mother – Frenzy Mae Saavedra), Chrisoula Zerrah Fernando (Mother Cris Charine Fernando), and Kaithleen Manalopilar (Mother – Maria Noemi Manalopilar).
The winners each received certificates of recognition and cash prizes.
The nationwide MR-OPV SIA was launched last May 2 in Zamboanga City which saw the deployment of over 100 vaccination teams to the city’s 98 barangays and adapting house-to-house, fixed mobile and fixed sites strategies to reach out target population.
Under the campaign, the City Health Office targets to vaccinate 79,973 children aged 9-59 months with the measles rubella vaccine and 93,802 children 0-59 months old with oral polio vaccine. (Jasmine Mohammadsali, photo courtesy by Kathy Wee Sit)
