Press Release of City of Zamboanga – A total of 800 reams of smuggled cigarettes onboard a private vehicle were intercepted by troops from the 74th IB iunder the Joint Task Force Zamboanga Monday night, December 20 in Curuan in the east coast.
74th IB Commander LtCol Julius Villena said the cigarettes were intercepted while the team was conducting random checkpoint in Curuan around 9pm Monday. Neither the driver nor passenger, who are both residents of Brgy Sta Catalina, failed to present pertinent documents for the items, thus, the seizure.
The troop sought the assistance of Zamboanga City Police Station 2 for documentation and proper disposition of the smuggled items.
