The 29th Summer Learn to Play a Sports Program officially concluded Wednesday, May 27, at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex, with more than 4,500 aspiring athletes completing the free training.
The annual program, which opened April 27, gathered participants in 26 different sports events and provided month-long training aimed at developing athletic skills, discipline and sportsmanship among children aged 7 to 15 years old.
During the closing ceremony, trainees received certificates of participation, while trainers were given certificates of appreciation in recognition of their dedication and contribution to the program.
Mayor Khymer Olaso, represented by Vice Mayor Beng Climaco and Executive Assistant Bong Simbajon and City Sports Director Dr. Cecil Atilano, graced the culminating rites.
A highlight during the program was the field demonstration by athletes showcasing skills learned from their respective sports disciplines, as parents and guardians along with their children filled the grandstand bleachers to witness the presentations and celebrate the participants’ achievements.
