Zamboanga: 18,000 doses of Sputnik V expired

The Department of Health (DOH) regional office 9 has confirmed that 18,000 doses of Sputnik V has expired last March as it already reached the expiry date in the Local Government Units without being utilized.

DOH 9 regional director, Dr. Joshua Brilliantes, said these 18,000 doses of Sputnik vaccines which expired came from region 9.

“Umabot na sa time na nag expire yung mga vaccines at kulang na yung mga nag papa vaccinate.” Brilliantes said.

These vaccines can’t be used anymore and with the local government unit. The regional director said, they already did all strategy and there’s also vaccine hesitancy.

One ampule of Sputnik V can be used to vaccinate two persons with the interval of 21 days from the first dose. Two doses are needed to protect one from Covid 19.

Recall November last year, 2,570 doses of Astrazeneca also expired at local government units without being utilized. (R.G. A A. Go)
