A total of 1,430 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) at the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) have been vaccinated against COVID-19, as of October 15.

This is in line with the City Government’s desire to accelerate the vaccination rollout in the city and provide the residents with added protection against coronavirus.

The inoculation of PDL at the ZCRC started May 31 with City Health Office (CHO) vaccination teams in collaboration with the BJMP medical team spearheading the rollout.

Most of the PDL fall under the A5 category (indigent population) but a number of them are under the A2 category (senior citizens) as well as A3 (with comorbidities).

The vaccination rollout inside the ZCRC will continue until all the PDL will be inoculated and protected against COVID-19.

Per records from the ZCRC, there are 2,963 PDL in the male dormitory and 316 PDL at the female dormitory.

Recall that in May 2020, a number of PDL at the ZCRC were infected with COVID. Congestion was one of the main reasons for the transmission.

Meanwhile, vaccination of PDL at the San Ramon Penal Farm is also being pursued.
