The Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAPI) Zamboanga City Chapter reveals that private hospitals in the city are now full and they lack oxygen supply due to the increase of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the city.

Dr. Marites Maxino, President PHAPI Zamboanga City Chapter, said in a video message that “What I have known from my other co-administrators all private hospitals in Zamboanga City, the Emergency Room has freeze their admission for those patients requiring oxygen.”

However, for those non-covid cases and those not needing oxygen support they can still accept patients.

The group also asked the city government for help when it comes to securing oxygen tanks.

Because of this the group appealed to everyone to strictly follow health protocols. “Please practice the health standards we taught you.” This includes frequent hand sanitation, the use of facemask and face shield, physical distancing and vaccination when your turn comes.

“All Emergency Rooms have a long queu /listing for admissions. We get a lot of calls everyday,” Maxino said.

As of October 2, the city now has a total of 16,161 Covid 19 cases, 2,035 active cases, 13,389 recoveries, and 737 deaths.

PHAPI has a total of nine private hospital members in the city.
