WMSU Capacitates Barangays Through Technology Transfer

10Zamboanga City – Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) continues to capacitate 35 selected barangay through technology transfer as they signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) recently.

Dr. Teresita A. Narvaez, WMSU Vice President for Research, Extension Services & External Linkages said these barangays both came from the east and west coast.

The budget for the said project is P8,647,196.88 provided by Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development.

In the project, trainers from the university train selected individuals from the chosen barangays for their livelihood program especially this time of pandemic to help them earn.

Trainings given to the barangays were in mushroom production, vegetable urban gardening, vermicast, growing of native chicken, and duck raising depending what training is suited for the barangay.

All of this are being done at the WMSU College of Agriculture in San Ramon and now being cascaded to the community by the university.

For other interested barangays they may write a letter of intent and visit WMSU.

This is to make WMSU visible, relevant, and dependable, as partner of the LGUs supported by WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla Altea Ochotorena whose vision for the extension services is for WMSU to bridge communities and connect people. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
