UP Alumni In Davao To Hold Webinar On COVID-19 Vaccines

A free webinar on the COVID-19 vaccination issue dubbed “To V or Not to V” will be held on Feb. 13 from 9 AM to 11 AM.

The webinar is organized by the University of the Philippine Alumni Association Davao (UPAA Davao), UP-Mindanao and the Philippine Genome Center Mindanao (PGC Mindanao),

“To V or Not to V” is a contribution to the ongoing discussion whether to vaccinate or not to vaccinate oneself against COVID-19, which is a widely debated topic around the world.  Through the webinar the UP community hopes to help the decision making process of the public.

“There are many perceptions about the issue and its best to hear from the experts,” UPAA-Davao director Atty. Glenn Cedeño Sorila said of the event.

Among the guests speakers include Dr. Willy Tan, manager for global product development GCMC Vaccines of Pfizer Inc., will talk on “Vaccine Development and Manufacture,  Dr. Nina Gloriani of the Department of Science and Technology who heads the Vaccine Expert Panel of the DOST, Dr. Gloriani will be discussing “The Science behind Regulatory Process for Evaluation and Approval of COVID-19 Vaccines.” Dr. Ashley Lopez, City Health Officer of Davao City will talk on Davao City’s Vaccination Plan.

Cabinet Secretary Atty. Karlo Nograles, co-chair of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will be give an overview of the national government’s vaccination roadmap.

Dr. Celia C. Castillo, doctor of internal medicine will be the moderator of the forum while closing remarks will be delivered by UP Mindanao Chancellor Larry Digal. Atty. Sorila will serve as the event host.

“To V or Not to V” is a public offering for the 26th anniversary of UP Mindanao.
