
The responding team of the Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 recovered two unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Baliwasan Grande, Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City on September 26, 2020.
Acting on information received from a concerned citizen of the discovery of two unexploded ordnance, marine troops immediately proceeded to and cordoned the area at 8:50 in the morning.

“The said ordnance was discovered by the garbage collector in the garbage area along the sidewalk of Baliwasan Grande,” said Col. John Divinagracia, JTF Zamboanga Commander.
Troops immediately coordinated with the Marine and PNP EOD teams for proper dispositive action.
“The initial investigation revealed that the two Rifle Grenades were sealed in the respective canister and were mixed with the pile of garbage,” Col. Divinagracia added.
The rifle grenades were brought by PNP EOD at Camp General Batalla, Brgy Cawa-Cawa, Zamboanga City for further investigation and proper disposal.
“Again, we call on the people of Central and Western Mindanao to be more vigilant and immediately report suspicious items in your vicinity,” said WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr.
“I also truly commend the sustained cooperation of the communities of the communities and the diligence and commitment of our troops,” Lt. Gen. Vinluan added.
