Matina, Davao City – A heartwarming moment between the police officers after they hand to the mother her newborn baby after helping her give birth on the main highway of Matina Crossing, infront of Talomo Police Station, earlier morning of September 1.

At around 6:00 AM last September 1, while the Police officers assigned at Talomo Police, undergoing Field Training Program were on their usual physical run, incidentally, they happened to pass by a pregnant woman on the act of delivering her baby along McArthur Highway.

Without any delay, the said police officers together with their Field Training Officers, immediately provided assistance and rushed to call the duty nurse of the station, Police Corporal Regidor as they safely delivered a healthy baby girl.

Together, the rescuing police officers snip the baby’s cord while the little tot starts crying loudly. Seconds later, the newborn is passed to her mother who bounces her in her arms.

After giving birth, the mother and her newly born child were rushed to Sanitarium Hospital Bangkal, Davao City, on board Patrol Car (Innova) for immediate medical attention. From there, she was attended by Dr. Callos.

The team of police stayed with the family until the doctor said things were under control and both are now safe.

“We too were nervous as it was race against time. Thankfully, the mother and child are fine,” one of the police officers said.

The couple is said to have been waiting for a ride going to hospital, unfortunately, she already experienced labor on the street.

Meanwhile, PLtCol. Ronald Lao, PS3 Station Commander, commended the troops for their immediate response to a distress call.

“This is one of the many instances of our police performing their duties to the best of their abilities and it makes us incredibly proud,” PLtCol. Lao said. (PR Talomo PNP)
