Local Government of Claver led the Mining Caravan 2022 and opened the mining season. With the theme – Panaghiusa sa Responsableng Pagmina, the caravan was aimed at fostering unity of the local governement, administrative bodies and mining sector towards responsible mining in the region.
All three mining companies – Taganito Mining Corporation, Platinum Group Metals Inc. and Adnama Mining Resources Inc. together with the sole processing plant – Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation participated from the motorcade up to the opening program at the Third floor of Claver Municipal Hall.
It started with a motorcade from Lawihon Boulevard of Brgy. Tayaga to the various barangays along the national highway within Claver – from Brgy. Daywan to Brgy. Cagdianano.
Engr. Corsino Odtojan, VPO of PGMC and the President of Chamber of Mines- Caraga opened the kick-off ceremony and expressed his gratitude to the LGU-Claver for spearheading the event.
Mayor Georgia D. Gokiangkee highlighted the impact of mining and processing industry in the local economy as well as the unified efforts of the LGU and Mining Companies in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Engr Larry Heradez was not present but ably represented by Engr. Francis Glenn Suante, Chief of Mines Management Division of MGB. He commended the LGU-Claver as well as the participating mining companies in the conduct of Mining Caravan 2022.
Former ABC President and now Brgy. Kagawad Rito Placencia of Brgy. Hayanggabon shared the journey of his community from pre-mining years up to the present. And the importance of responsible mining in sustainable development.
LGU-Claver local officials were joined by Engr. Corsino Odtojan, VPO – PGMC, Engr. Artemio Valeroso, Resident Mine Manager – TMC, Engr. Guilberto Besario, Project Manger-AMRI, and Genevieve Chua, COMREL Manager -THPAL.
In the afternoon, the Jobs and Trade Fair was held beside the Luneta Park to showcase the various local products from the mining POs (through SDMP), and local merchants of DTI Claver Negosyo Center. Among those displayed were various homemade food products and hand-woven baskets.
The success of Mining Caravan 2022 marked another milestone for Claver, which is also known as the Mining Capital of Caraga Region.
The Local Economic Enterprise Development and Management Office spearheaded the event.
