LTFRB Caraga, led by OIC Regional Director Jhorgene P. Paronia and Acting CTDO Emmanuel Ian U. Primero, together with personnel from the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program – Regional Project Management Office (PUVMP-RPMO) Caraga, awards the Notice of Compliance (NOC) for the Local Public Transportation Route Plan (LPTRP) to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte on 07 March 2022.
In attendance from the LGU were Hon. Avelina S. Rosales, Municipal Mayor; Hon. Larry F. Bautista, Municipal Vice Mayor; and members of the Sangguniang Bayan, who all expressed their gratefulness to the LTFRB and PUVMP-RPMO for providing technical assistance and guidance in the crafting of the LPTRP.
Meanwhile, Mr. Paronia commended the LGU for their efforts and cooperation in complying with the LPTRP as required by the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Department of Transportation (DOTr) Joint Memorandum Circular No. 01 series of 2017. He emphasized that the LGUs have significant role to play in the harmonization of public transportation since they are the ones who know their localities, as well as the needs that stem from them.
Accordingly, the LPTRP shall be the minimum requirement prescribed for the issuance of Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) franchises. The LPTRP is crafted by the LGUs and is further evaluated by the DOTr, LTFRB, and Transport and Traffic Planners Inc. (TTPI). Consequently, those LGUs who have successfully complied with the LPTRP are the awarded with the NOC.
The LGU of Las Nieves is the first municipality to be awarded with NOC in Caraga Region.
