Gracing the occasion as our distinguished guest of honor was the Speaker of the House of Representatives and 1st District of Leyte Representative Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez who exerted invaluable support in fast-tracking the passage of the bill that brought us our SIMC. “Siargao is our priority area (to develop),” enthused Speaker Romualdez. He led the symbolic lowering of the capsule on the SIMC ground.
Other dignitaries who were equally supportive of the project are Deputy Speaker Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco, Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, DOH Officer-in-Charge Secretary Dr. Maria Rosario S. Vergeire, Presidential Son Mr. Vinny Marcos, Congressman Sergio Dagooc, DOH Undersecretary Dr. Abdullah Dumama Jr., DOH Assistant Secretary on Health Policy and Infrastructure Development Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon, DOH CARAGA Regional Director Dr. Cesar C. Cassion and DOT Regional Director Ivonnie B. Dumadag.
As our local hospital transitions from a meager district hospital lacking advanced medical equipment into a Level 2 SIMC with 100-bed capacity through the Republic Act 11500, this is indeed our province’s newest pride where the locals and tourists’ safety is assured.
