Surigao: Dr. Maria Ines C. Asuncion assumes office as the new Regional Director of DepEd Caraga

The Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga Region is pleased to announce the assumption of office of Dr. Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO IV, as the new Regional Director, following her official installation administered by Assistant Secretary for Field Operations Dr. Francis Cesar B. Bringas on May 26, 2023, at the Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City.

Dr. Asuncion took the helm of DepEd Caraga from Dr. Maria Gemma Mercado Ledesma, CESO III, who will be supervising and motoring DepEd programs, projects, and activities involving private schools nationwide and abroad.

The installation of Dr. Asuncion as the new Regional Director marked the official transition of leadership highlighted by Ledesma’s ceremonial turnover of responsibility to her.

After his message, Bringas read the order assigning Ledesma as Director IV in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Field Operations. She is to supervise regional operations in the Private Education Office. Bringas then installed Dr. Asuncion as the OIC-Regional Director of DepEd Caraga.

In her message to Asuncion, Ledesma said, “𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘳. In response, Dr. Asuncion expresses her profuse gratitude to the Asec Bringas, RD Ledesma, Caraga officials, and the top officials from her former workstations who came all the way from Region 11 (Davao) and Region 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN) to express their full support and appreciation, led by their respective Regional Directors Dr. Allan Farnazo and Dr. Carlito Rocafort.

RD Asuncion stated that she would continue and support the existing programs and projects laid out in the Regional Education Development Plan and ensure the attainment of set goals and objectives for the region.

Dr. Asuncion expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to lead DepEd Caraga. She underscored her commitment to advancing inclusive and learner-centered education, encouraging stakeholder engagement, and supporting teachers and school administrators in pursuing educational excellence.

The DepEd Caraga Region thanks RD Ledesma for her remarkable leadership and contributions during her tenure as Regional Director. Her priceless legacy will always serve as an inspiration for the Caraganons.
