April 22 is Earth Day, thus this year’s theme is “Invest in Our Planet” which focuses on the importance of acting in unity for the protection of our planet toward a green and prosperous future.
In line with the celebration, DENR PENRO Surigao del Norte under the leadership of OIC, PENR Officer Alejandra B. Boiser together with CENRO Tubod and Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC) conducts a clean-up drive along Washington – Kinabutan River in Purok Calipayan, Brgy. Washington, Surigao City. It was participated by the Brgy. Officials of Washington, BHWs, residents, PENRO SDN and CENRO Tubod personnel.
A total estimated of 40 sacks of garbage were collected equivalent to more or less 1,200 kilograms and properly disposed at the Sanitary Landfill in Surigao City.
Thus, Communication Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) Campaign was also conducted before the clean-up drive to raise awareness on the importance on Investing our Planet Earth for future generation and refresher on RA 9003 or Ecological Solid Waste Management Program.
